Should you train volunteers? Mark Freeman sets out the case for volunteer training and development as part of a charity’s overall humancapital strategy
Should charities and not for profit organisations train volunteers? This appears to be a silly question but a very important one. The answer surely has to be ‘yes’ for no other reason than the gift of training, helping an individual learn, grow and develop seems bound into the very ethic of the sector. We’re here to help after all! Yet in fact the training of volunteers is an area where the head should at least lead, if not totally rule, your organisation’s heart.
