Jonathan Burchfield reviews the administrative milestones facing a grantmaking charity in a typical financial year
Please don’t tell my wife and family, but my life revolves around the calendar of the charity of which I am a trustee. With an unrelenting pace, each quarter of the year marches forward and involves, first, preparation for the quarterly trustees’ meeting, then the day of the meeting itself and then implementation of the decisions made at the meeting. All too soon, it is time to prepare for the next meeting, and so the trustee’s and the charity’s lives continue!
