Tony Chapman shares his thoughts about third sector development in the light of his recent research report commissioned by the Northern Rock Foundation
Those who practice leadership in a bubble tend not to survive. The danger of failure is higher if leaders believe, as the executives of Lehman Brothers undoubtedly did, that the whole world is in their bubble. The third sector has had its big casualties too, when organisations have over-reached themselves or compromised their value base. Ambition and values do not provide all the strengths leaders need, they also have to understand the bigger picture.
