Teresa Nightingale talks about marketing, cancer prevention and running the London Marathon
What attracted you to the voluntary sector?
It was more the charity, WCRF, because friends and family have been affected by cancer, although I did get involved in fundraising when I was a college student. Also, my mum is an oncology nurse. I’ve been there nine years and held marketing positions in the telecoms industry before that.

Teresa Nightingale is general manager of the UK arm of the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) global network of cancer charities, which are dedicated to cancer prevention. This includes funding research into how cancer risk is related to diet, physical activity, and weight management. Teresa has been with the charity since 2001 and was promoted in June 2009. She is responsible for the charity’s education and communication activities as well as governance and working closely with other charities in the WCRF global network. She holds a degree in marketing, and worked in the private sector before joining WCRF. Originally from the Wirral, she lives in
south London.
