Scotland’s public benefit guidance at consultation stage.

Scotland’s charity regulator has invited comment on its guidance for meeting the charity test (the initial guidance was published in April 2006).
The consultation will last until 7th April 2008 and OSCR will use the responses to update its guidance since taking up since taking up its powers under the Charities and Trustee Investment Scotland Act 2005. OSCR has also completed its pilot study on the rolling review of charitable status for those charities already on the Scottish charity register, which, it states, provide ‘further insights’ into the practical application of the charity test. Focus groups are being held throughout February 2008..
