Richard Jones has been chairman of The Heart of Kent Hospice since 2003 and completes his term later this year. He qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1966 and specialised in horses. Some years later he set up a specialist equine practice which is now an accredited equine veterinary hospital employing some 15 vets. He was involved in installing the first-ever MRI unit for use in conscious horses, and is a world founder member of the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations, which lobbies the EC through the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE). He enjoys his family, the countryside natural history, his boat and field sports
