Reflections on charities and recession

...to submit views for the ‘downturn summit’ organised by NCVO last autumn with The Office of the Third Sector, and his comments are available on the online version of Caritas (see URL below)
The 15 points he raises include a prediction that the impact of the recession will vary hugely. Some charities will see little or no change, some will be able to grow ‘at a time like this’ but others will see reductions in income, forcing possible closures. There is also a reminder that ‘sustainability for a charity is all about the ability to continue the core work’ and that those have achieved this over long time-spans have usually done this because of a ‘clear vision for what is central to their mission.’
