A close look at many charities’ strategic plans will reveal that fundraising is being treated as if it was a support function like finance or administration. Instead of being part of the process of deciding what the organisation wants to achieve, fundraising is simply told at the end of the strategy process how much money is needed, and expected to get on with raising it.
