Proving capacity
Tony Chapman shares some research exploring different attitudes within the sector and commissioning bodies to impact assessment
At one time, local and national government bodies rarely required third sector organisations (TSOs) to show evidence of the impact of what had been achieved from grant funding. Over the last 20 years, this has changed – partly because there are more service level agreements or contracts with specific requirements. But also, as in the public sector itself, there has been an increasing emphasis on evidence-based policy and upon practice which focuses on ‘what works’. This article shares some of the learning points arising from our recent Third Sector Trends study. (see Figure 1)
