Lovers of cycle racing will know that our cyclists won eight of Team GB’s total haul of 19 gold medals in the Beijing Olympics. It was a team effort by the cyclists with great credit going to Dave Brailsford, the sport’s performance director.When asked how he did it, he answered: ‘We’ve focused on the idea of the aggregation of marginal gains.We analyse every single detail that could affect performance and get a single percentage improvement in each area. If you put them together, you get performance enhancement.’
