Mark Lever talks about organisational change, autism and his masterchef ambitions
What made you move into the voluntary sector?
After reading Physics at the University of London I trained as an accountant in a medium-sized firm, eventually becoming national director of HR and training and was made partner. I was then approached by WRVS to set up a commercial residential training centre to help fund the training and development of their volunteers – at the time there were over 100,000 of them. This was a major decision for me as things were going well at the firm, but it was too interesting a challenge to let go.
