Making the most of trusteeship

The role of a trustee is a unique one. You have the decision-making powers of a CEO to influence the causes you support, without having to get bogged down in the day-to-day responsibilities of doing the actual work. The caveat is that you are legally responsible, accountable and liable for the activities of the organisation. If you are a trustee or work with trustees, it is important to know what trustees can and can’t do especially in a small organisation where the distinction between governance and management easily gets blurred.
