Staff retention strategies look set to be high on the agenda for charities still managing the impact of the recession, says Katherine Smithson
The impact of the recession on recruitment and staffing in the charity sector has been relatively belated. However results appearing in the recent ‘Salary and Employment Survey,’ conducted by the Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG) and Hays, shows that observable changes are occurring across charitable organisations.1

Katherine Smithson is policy officer at Charity Finance Director’s Group and joined the CFDG team in April 2010, following two policy internships within the sector and an interim position as volunteer manager for the charity Body & Soul.
She has also in the past worked for Warwickshire Probation Service and the NHS.
