Inside job?
Kate Hand examines the implications for the sector of a recent Fraud Advisory Panel report
‘…we were two weeks from going down [financially]… that’s how close it was.’ This comment is from a charity that suffered fraud, and yet only 51 per cent of respondents to the recent Fraud Advisory Panel report, Fraud in the Charitable Sector [1], thought that fraud was a major risk to charities. Even amongst those who had experienced fraud, 47 per cent felt that they had taken all reasonable precautions, and only 66 per cent subsequently made changes to procedures and/or controls.
