With the funding climate in flux, the accounting and tax issues for grants and contracts need careful consideration. Mike Huggins summarises the key points
Public sector bodies are suffering unprecedented levels of cuts (see page 3 of this issue). More than ever they need to apply their funding wisely, including purchasing from charities the services they themselves are legally obliged to provide. Grantmakers also need more than ever to ensure their funds are applied effectively. The relationship between funders and funded continues to be characterised by greater prescription, as the funders seek best value from their limited resources.
