Not giving enough attention to the rights of employees working for your charity can be costly and is likely to cause irreparable damage to your reputation. It is therefore important that employee rights under the many employment statutes are both known and put into practice. Even the smallest procedural failure can lead to a successful claim of unfair dismissal, as a charity recently found out when it failed to follow its own disciplinary procedures. This article provides a brief overview of the main areas to be aware of to ensure compliance with the legislation.
