Former CBI director general to head up Big Society Trust

Big Society Capital announces the appointment of Sir Richard Lambert as chair of the Big Society Trust

 
The body oversees Big Society Capital’s activities so as to ensure that it stays true to its mission. He brings to the Big Society Trust a wealth of experience of business, finance, policy and the media. He is a former Editor of the Financial Times (1991-2001) and member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England (2003-2006). Between 2006 and 2011, Sir Richard was Director General of the Confederation of British Industry.
 
Big Society Capital was launched at the end of July, formerly having been known as Big Society Bank, the remit of which was explained in an article by Sir Stephen Bubb for Caritas magazine available  here.

Other members of the Big Society Trust Board appointed this week are: Sir Stephen Bubb (ACEVO), Gareth Davies (Cabinet Office), Ian Davis (McKinsey and Co), Peter Holbrook (Social Enterprise UK), Baroness (Jill) Pitkeathley (House of Lords) and David Robinson (Community Links). Sir Ronald Cohen is also a member in his position as Chair of Big Society Capital.
