Form over substance
Nick Carey believes that the current regulatory framework is holding the sector back from optimising its full potential in the Big Society.
Regulation will never be a sexy topic no matter how hard it tries. Regulation will also rarely hit the headlines save for when things go badly wrong. However, despite these image problems, regulation has a critical role to play in directing, encouraging and overseeing markets and sectors. Its prominence has risen exponentially over the past couple of years with the crisis in the banking sector and many industries are taking this opportunity to rethink the rationale behind their regulation.
