Finance with a difference
International NGOs face huge challenges in humanitarian disaster zones getting aid and cash through to where it is needed. Caitlin Mackesy Davies reports on one finance professional’s experience.
For Chris Fyfe, his first day on a new job involved a familiar routine: find your desk, have a welcome meeting and maybe see if your new colleagues fancy a drink after work. But in his case things were a bit different. There was no desk – not even a structurally sound building, meetings were snatched under a canvas canopy, and the potential for aftershocks coupled with a strict curfew meant that evening socialising was off the agenda.
