Equities without borders
Richard Maitland looks at the role of global equities in charity portfolios...
Historically, charities have tended to have a strong bias towards companies listed on the UK stock exchange as reflected by the components of the FTSE All-Share Index. For many, this has been a case of matching assets and liabilities. However, as companies have become genuinely multinational, the notion of fixed regional boundaries when it comes to investment makes less sense. This article considers a more global approach to equity investment and reviews whether a change of investment style is warranted if this is implemented.
