The 19th survey of Charity Rewards was published in September 2008 and updates the findings of the 2007/08 survey summarised earlier this year (see 'What's it worth,' Caritas, Issue 4, March 2008). This article restates some of the basic principles outlined in the earlier report but puts them in the context of an adverse economic climate [i]. The current conditions have without doubt had a knock-on effect into the world of pay and benefits and the challenge facing employers is how to balance the need to recruit, retain and motivate staff with the increasing burden that many will be feeling as a result of the tectonic shifts in the financial world.
