The public sector has taken centre stage in recent months in the light of the coalition government's pledge to reduce public sector spending. The proposed cuts are expected to take a variety of forms – pensions, redundancies, the phasing out of Primary Care Trusts, Strategic Health Authorities and Regional Development Agencies, to name but a few.
