Sarasin & Partners is a leading UK investment specialist, managing discretionary accounts worth around £3.2 billion for a broad range of 265 charities, including medical, educational, environmental, grant makers and religious orders. We also specialise in managing investments for UK private clients, pension funds, and other institutions with a total of funds under management of c. £11.4bn (as at 30.09.11). The Sarasin Group as a whole has assets under management of more than £75.3 billion (as at 30.6.11).
We offer a fully integrated investment management and administration service tailored to the needs of individual charity clients. This includes both UK-centric and international balanced portfolios seeking varying degrees of income and capital growth.
We also manage two common investment funds, the Alpha CIF for Endowments and the Alpha CIF for Income & Reserves both with an in-built Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) policy. These two innovative funds enable charities to access a wider range of asset classes while employing a tactical asset allocation process designed to meet their specific objectives. Furthermore, the two funds along with other specialist funds can be blended together to meet individual growth and income requirements yet only receive a single but comprehensive "look-through" report.
Strong emphasis is placed on providing highly detailed quarterly investment reports and administrative support which is structured to each client's particular requirements. We count client meetings as an important part of our services. The Sarasin & Partners hallmark is the provision of a genuinely personal service at senior level for all clients.
The firm is particularly well-known for its annual Sarasin & Partners Compendium of Investment that is now in its 14th year of publication and has become established as a leading work of reference in the sector.
Sarasin & Partners also holds an annual series of investment seminars and hosts a monthly Charity Forum where charity finance professionals meet to discuss investment and other matters of common interest. We also carry out investment training for charity trustees on behalf of the CFDG.
We believe that client objectives are the central key to setting the long-term normal asset mix of the portfolio. Once these have been set, we aim to add value and reduce volatility through dynamic tactical asset allocation.
We also believe that recurring income is a crucial element of long-term investment, as ultimately capital growth is the product of income growth. Finally, our equity selection process is based on global thematic trends rather than a traditional regional approach coupled to local knowledge - a different way of looking at the world.
We are used to dealing with the problem of reconciling the conflicting requirements for immediate income with the need for long-term capital and income growth as well as working with charities to agreed benchmarks and, where applicable, using any ethical and/or SRI criteria trustees may wish to adopt.
