Charity Investment Specialists. At Barclays Wealth we are fully committed to the Charity Sector. Our aim is to provide Charities, Trusts and Foundations with excellent investment management combined with a high degree of personal service from an experienced and knowledgeable team. Over 700 charities trust us to look after in the region of £3bn of their assets and to help them deliver their objectives during these uncertain and turbulent times. We are able to call upon the expertise of the entire Barclays Group to ensure we offer the widest range of appropriate solutions regardless of the size of the charity.

Our Approach: We recognise that every charity is different. Each has unique objectives and investment requirements and as such, we base our recommendations accordingly. The core of our investment approach is to ensure that we create the correct asset allocation to suit the Charity’s return requirements, while balancing this against the risk profile and appetite for volatility. We believe that strategic asset allocation is the cornerstone of any investment proposition. Stock picking is not enough, the choice and mix of assets is crucial. Our portfolios are diversified across a wide range of asset classes and by geography where required. This diversity gives the portfolio the potential to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns.

We place importance on the strategic asset allocation and utilise directly the experience of our senior investment committee aided by significant research resources across both Barclays Wealth and the entire Group. Implementing that strategic asset allocation is where Barclays Wealth may differ to other investment managers. We have an open approach to using both active and passive managers, utilising active managers to gain access to a particular style or benefit from ‘best of breed’ funds and passive where it is most efficient to do so. We have expertise from actively managing segregated portfolios through to implementation using globally diversified portfolios of Exchange Traded Funds, in a familiar fund of funds structure. In addition, we use absolute return investment opportunities where suitable.

Unlike many of our competitors we also provide a wide variety of investment options for cash and near–cash holdings such as capital protected structured products. Our Liquidity Management Services can help Charities make the most of their cash assets whilst providing the required liquidity and security.
